SEATTLE UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF LAW ‘MOOT COURT’ JUDGE I have been invited to judge law students engaged in moot court competitions at Seattle University School of Law at least four times in the past seven years. Judges must ask competing law students questions and follow up questions, and only a limited number of judges and law students make it to subsequent qualifying rounds. The last time SU Law School invited me to judge, I made it all the way through five rounds of judging in a single afternoon, all the way to the finals. If each round of moot court judging were counted separately, then I could say that I’ve judged for SU Law School’s moot court a dozen times or more. LAW PRACTICE I have limited my practice to immigration law for the past fifteen years, working for myself since March, 1999. I win most of my removal cases, which is extremely rare. (Getting voluntary departure is not winning a case.) I had a published decision from the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in May 2005, see http://caselaw.findlaw.com/us-9th-circuit/1102071.html, (only 4% of decisions are ‘published’), and I have gained remands from the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals for four different petitioners. I have also won many remands from the Board of Immigration Appeals. All told, I win over 90% of all my immigration cases. More information about me and my law practice appears at my webpage, www.AllAmericanImmigration.com. QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE From December of 2004 to March of 2006, I conducted approximately 7,000 in-custody criminal arraignments before the late Tacoma Municipal Court Judge Gary Sullivan, working part-time at Pierce County’s Department of Assigned Counsel in my first job out of law school. I then worked for lawyers like Dan P. Danilov and Bart Klein before I struck out on my own in March, 1999, limiting my practice to immigration law since March of 1996. I also have one dozen letters from EOIR certifying me as qualified (or apparently “Best Qualified”) to be a US Immigration Judge.
